Sports massage has a number of benefits for athletes to help prepare for events or training and it is also great for rehabilitation with injuries. Sports massage can also be great in general body condition targeting physical, psychological and physiological health. This will involve preventing injuries and loss of mobility, cure loss of mobility due to damaged muscle tissue and improving mental welbeing. Overall sports massage is beneficial for anyone being an athlete or non-athlete to improve general health and extending the overall life of your sporting career.

What is sports massage?

 Sports massage primarly uses deep techniques to manipulate, stretch and stimulate muscles. It will also help to avelliate stress and tension that builds up in the bodys soft tissues during physical activity. 

 

There are three areas in Sports Massage that could benefit athletes.

 

Maintenance massage is where the therapist will understand the anatomy and of the muscles used in a individuals sports to find out what will be the main cause of trouble. This will also help to maintain range of movement and muscle flexability.

 

Pre and Post massage is tailored for different purposes. Pre event massage is to help stimulate muscles and increase blood flow and circulation prior to competiton or training to improve performance this can be relaxing or stimulating where appropriate, whereas post event massage is to help reduce muscle spasms and metabolic build up that has developed during intense exercise.

 

rehabilitation massages is primarily used to help speed the healing process and reduce discomfort in the injury during rehabilitation. Cross-Fibre friction techniques will help the formation of strong and flexable repair tissues, which is vital in a pain-free range of motion.

  I offer a 4-6 week injury rehabilitation programme including 2 one hour sessions and 2-4 thirty minute sessions over the duration of the programme and you will be provided with aftercare information after every session containing stretches to complete specific to your injury and condition. all for a discounted price of £100.
